Meet Sophia, a humanoid robot who was developed by a Hong Kong based company called Hanson Robotics. Sophia was created to adapt and learn human behavior and to work with humans as well. She was activated on April 19, 2015 and was modeled after actress Audrey Hepburn. What sets Sophia apart from other robots is her human like appearance, behavior and her ability to imitate human gestures and facial expressions. She is also able to answer certain questions and make simple conversations on predefined topics. According to her manufacturer, Sophia is equipped with the latest in Artificial Intelligence, visual data processing and facial recognition. She also uses voice recognition technology from Alphabet Inc, which is a parent company of Google. Moreover, she was designed to get smarter over time, which makes us question; how smarter than us can they get? Also, can she be hacked to hurt humans? I guess, only time will tell us.

On October 25, 2017, Sophia made history when she was granted a Saudi Arabian citizenship at the Future Investment Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. She became the first ever humanoid to have a nationality.

In this video, Andrew Ross Sorkin from CNBC interviews Sophia about the future of Artificial Intelligence, in Saudi Arabia.
