Anything new from Samsung would most likely attract the attention of customers, and with the new Samsung Galaxy Note 7 all set to hit the markets very soon, there’s quite a lot of excitement and expectations from the giant company. We know what Samsung is capable of producing and thus we cannot wait for the new generations of their smartphones, whether it’s the Samsung Galaxy S Series or the Samsung Galaxy Note Series or whatever smartphones they will come up with in the future.

Samsung’s last version was the Note 5 and when they announced that they will be moving over to Note 7, it raised quite few eyebrows. However, skipping versions won’t bother us as we take a closer look at the various new features and specifications of the new device.

The most obvious feature of the Note 7 is a dual-curved screen, which is the first time it’s introduced in the Note Series, the expandable storage, water resistant coating and the iris-scanning, which keeps your information private and secured.

What Makes The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 So Special?

Like I mentioned above, there are a number of features and specifications which makes this smartphone stand out from the crowd. Let’s take a look at some of the new features of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

The Dual Curved Screen

The most noticeable feature in design is its dual curved screen. It’s the first time Samsung has introduced the dual curved screen in the Note series. Samsung ditched the flat screen and picked up the same dual curved edge that was on the Galaxy S7 Edge and introduced it to its Note 7. Basically Note 7 has the same curved display as the Galaxy S7 Edge. This gives it a symmetrical layout, with a smooth edge that doesn’t feel like Samsung’s previous models.

Just like the Galaxy S7 Edge, the curved edge gives you the ability to customize your favorite apps or notifications which can be displayed on the edge screen with just a flick of the finger.

Another feature of this excellent display is the introduction of the High Dynamic Range technology (HDR) onto the Note 7. This is the first time smartphones have HDR displays, which basically means that you will see a lot more detail on movies and TV shows than any other smartphone in the world. This will open up a new era for watching content on our smartphones.

This Quad HD Super AMOLED display is packed with a 1440 x 2560 resolution and 518 pixels per inch density, protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5.

S Pen

The S Pen is a key feature for the Note series and Samsung made sure that it’s as powerful as it can be. The S Pen is now water and dust resistant. Samsung also made the S Pen thinner than before at just 0.7mm, making writing and drawing easier and feel more natural. It gives the user a smooth and precise writing and drawing experience that makes switching between tasks as natural as it can be.

Iris Scanner

Samsung has introduced a new fool proof technology that can keep your information protected and secured; The Iris scanner. It basically uses an advanced iris scanner to scan your eye to log you in and it works in the dark as well. Apparently, according to Samsung, Iris is 100 times more secure than fingerprint system. You literally cannot replicate an iris making it one of the most secure ways you can protect your data.

USB Type C Port

We’ve talked about USB Type C before and know its advantages. The Note 7 features a brand new USB Type C port that can deliver 100 watts of power to charge your phone faster and has a data transfer speed that’s faster than USB 3.0. Will Samsung implement USB Type C ports to all of their smartphones? We’ll have to wait and see.

The Note 7 comes with a 12 MP f1.7 aperture and optical image stabilization back camera and a 5MP front camera with an f/2.2 aperture. The 12MP back camera comes with a Dual Pixel Sensor and 1.4µm pixels. Similar to the Galaxy S7 camera, the “Pro Mode” gives you the ability to adjust the settings, whether it is the shutter speed, ISO, exposure and more.

With this camera, you can also record 4K video and not to forget the awesome slow motion.

No doubt that the Galaxy Note 7 will be one of the best smartphone or phablet out there once its released, but its similarity to the Galaxy S7 Edge might hold up some costumers. However, the Iris-scanning technology and the USB Type C could be a big talking point, but at the end of the day, it’s the customers who have the final word. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Let us know in the comment section below, what is your favorite Samsung Galaxy Note 7 feature and will you be upgrading to this phone?
